I got into kettlebell workouts back in 2007 when I was still in high school. And that's when I found my first love.
My 'younger'-older-brother was doing them because he was my father's son and my dad went to every extreme to get him to play college baseball ... he even built a pitcher's mound in our backyard and when my eldest brother came home from college he engraved "If you build it, they will come" on the side. (Field of Dreams reference, anyone??)
Needless to say, there was no college baseball on the horizon, but at least I stuck around for my old pops to drag me to 5:30 AM kettlebells when I had 1st period study hall and didn't have to be to school until 9... thanks dad!
Every break from college I would return home and waddle out of bed at 5 in the morning looking forward to a 25-minute sweat/bonding session with my dad. If I was lucky enough, I'd coerce him into stopping by Kwik Star to get doughnuts afterward. Yeah.. deprivation became an evil past-time after my early college years. I'm fueled off cookies, doughnuts and lots of meat and veggies these days. (More to come on that.)
The fact of the matter was, I could get a high-quality full-body workout in with the "bells" in half the time my peers could break a sweat on those cardio-mouse-traps.. and so, I fell in love.
It was a first love for me, I have to admit. I thought I was in love with my high school boyfriend who made me watch hours of professional basketball and then him pretending to play professional basketball on his game counsel, but let's be real, that was not love, that was just awful.
And so, in honor of my first love, I've written an article on the 7 Reasons to Incorporate Kettlebell Workouts Into Your Fitness Regimen. Check it out, and if you have any questions on how to get started, just ask in the comments!
Catch ya later!
